L'Écosse d'Outlander

5,0 ⭐     20 avis clients

Inspired by the beloved Outlander series with a self-drive road trip through Scotland’s iconic landscapes and historic sites. Follow the Outlander Trail from Edinburgh, the historical capital, into the Highlands, where you’ll encounter ancient ruins, charming settlements, and breathtaking scenery that served as inspiration for Diana Gabaldon’s novels. Explore real-life locations that brought Castle Leoch, Craig Na Dun, Fort William, Inverness, Jamaica, Paris, and even Boston and Harvard to life in the series. Immerse yourself in the rich history and captivating beauty of Scotland as you trace the footsteps of Jamie and Claire.

Arrive in Edinburgh where your accommodation awaits. Your self-drive or chauffeured car will be waiting for you at the airport. Spend the afternoon leisurely exploring the city. Delve into the UNESCO-listed Old and New Towns, and discover Edinburgh Castle's grandeur. With numerous museums and landmarks nearby, your evening promises a delightful introduction to Edinburgh's charm.

Se reposer pour la nuit à Édimbourg.

Take a full day to explore Edinburgh's Old Town and uncover its hidden Outlander filming locations. Holyroodhouse Palace served as the backdrop for Claire and Jamie's encounter with Bonnie Prince Charlie, while the World's End Pub on the Royal Mile is a recognizable spot where they visited. For a taste of luxury, indulge in afternoon tea at the Signet Library, which doubled as the Governor's mansion in Jamaica. Additionally, consider a day trip to Glasgow to explore Season 3's locations, representing Boston and Harvard.

Se reposer pour la nuit à Édimbourg.

Explore Fife's scenic route today, starting with Hopetoun House, known for its role as the Duke of Sandringham's residence in Outlander. Next, visit the boat-shaped fortress Blackness Castle, featured as Fort William. In Fife, don't miss Culross and Falkland, recognized as 1940s Inverness, where Claire and Frank honeymooned.

Rest for the night in St. Andrews.

Today, immerse yourself in the Highlands and follow Jamie and Claire's footsteps. Start with a visit to the picturesque village of Dunkeld and the historic Blair Castle. As you drive through the Cairngorms National Park, stop at the Highland Folk Museum, used as a Mackenzie village in the series. Near Inverness, don't miss Culloden Moor, where Jamie fights for Scotland, and Clava Cairns, an inspiration for Craigh na Dun. Experience the rich history and breathtaking landscapes of these Outlander filming locations.

Rest for the night in the Inverness Area.

Explore the surroundings of Inverness, known as "the Capital of the Highlands." Start by visiting the ruins of Beauly Priory, where Claire meets Maisri the Seer. Then, head south to Loch Ness. Visit the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition to learn about the lake and its monster, or explore the Urquhart Castle ruins on its shores. Alternatively, detour to picturesque Glen Affric, reminiscent of scenes from season 1 of Outlander.

Rest for the night in the Fort William area.

Today's drive takes you through the Trossachs and Loch Lomond area before returning to Edinburgh. Pass through the scenic and historical Glen Coe valley, where some of the first scenes of the TV series were filmed. You can also enjoy a nature walk to spot wildlife, take a boat tour on Loch Katrine, or visit Deanston Whisky Distillery. Don't miss Doune Castle, recognized as Castle Leoch from season 1 of the series.
